When in Taipei, a visit to a night market is never complete without having to try the Hotstar’s XXL chicken and a serving of 50Cent/ 1 /Coco milk tea. Well, Cebu milk tea has been mushrooming speedily, but where to find that delicious extra huge, deep fried chicken fillet?
Spotlight on Esquina Pasta Bar’s Colossal chicken that’s at par with Taiwan’s well-loved streetfood chow. EPB‘s Colossal Chicken is tender chicken breast that’s fried ’til golden. Choose from the original recipe, or glazed Korean style, barbecue or sour cream. Dips are also available for just 10php. Selections are gravy, garlic aioli, honey mustard and spicy buffalo. The dips go well with the original recipe. If you opt to having the glazed chicken, I suggest you skip the dips.
I had the Colossal Chicken Burger , made with XL Chicken, lettuce, garlic aioli sauce between a sesame bun sandwich. Loved the outer crunch of the chicken, and how it’s still tender, and quite juicy. The garlic aioli added a tinge of biting taste, giving it a distinct flavor and character. Fairly priced at P180.
Six varieties of pastas are available, 2 of which are under the premium category – priced at P140 and P155 respectively. We ordered Creamy Mushroom Bacon, and Linguini Shrimp Scampi Premium Pasta to share. The pasta’s done al dente, and personally thinks that it was just the right amount of sauce and pasta ratio. I liked the Creamy Mushroom Bacon better over the premium scampi dish as the shrimp was a bit arid. All else were good, and wouldn’t mind chilling here again soon.
